Collection of documentary and bibliographical resources

What is it?
A collection of documentary and bibliographical resources specialising in the study of the political, constitutional, administrative and financial aspects of territorial political autonomies in Spain and abroad.

What type of documentation?
Monographs and serial publications, theses, studies, seminars and symposia, and articles published in the press from 1985 to now. All the lists of relevant items since 2003 have been digitalised, although those prior to then are available only in hard copy format.
The Documentary and Bibliographical Collection offers users the possibility of consulting press articles from a terminal in its headquarters available to any researcher. This service is based on the daily compilations of press items made by the Institute from 1985 to the present time. These compilations contain news items, interviews, editorials and articles of opinion which have appeared in newspapers and periodicals that have to do with self-government and, in general, the State of the Autonomies.
This broad range of material is currently classified into 11 areas: 1) Institutional activity in Catalonia; 2) Autonomy statute reforms; 3) Self-government reforms; 4) Funding of autonomies; 5) External action by the autonomous communities; 6) Institutional activity in Spain; 7) The State of the Autonomies; 8) Courts, General Council of the Judiciary and Administration of Justice; 9) Constitutional Court; 10) European Union; 11) Federal and regional systems.
The serial publications from which the lists of relevant items are taken include the leading Spanish and foreign magazines and journals in the fields of public law and political sciences and abstracts of the content of the articles are available to users in the language in which they were originally published.

How is the information presented?
All documents are accompanied by a list of the subjects they deal with based on an internally produced thesaurus. In addition, each documentary record contains an abstract of the document’s contents.

Where are the documents?
Most of the documents in the collection are physically located in the Institute’s headquarters, although some are in other libraries indicated in the document itself and, albeit exceptionally, some documents are listed without any indication of where they are physically located, although their importance warrants the giving of the relevant basic bibliographical details.

Through what type of searches can documents be consulted?
Documents can be consulted on-line through three different types of search: direct search, combined search and advanced search.
